Sustainability
The Run To
Sustainability
Campaccio's Sustainability: Territory and Environment as pillars alongside the Competition.
A major novelty planned for the sixty-eighth edition of the Campaccio Cross Country Race is that relating to the formalization of a real Sustainability Plan, in compliance with the provisions of the Sustainability Strategy of the World Athletics Federation, which, in 2024, launched Athletic for a Better World, a real standard for measuring the sustainability of sports events recognized by the Federation itself.
For the elaboration of its Strategy and related action plan, a full-fledged Sustainability Committee was formed to, among other things, work on identity, map the relevant stakeholders and circumscribe the areas of impact related to the event, going on to define objectives and actions to mitigate negative impacts and enhance positive ones on the Local Community, People and the Environment while keeping the bar of competition, Campaccio's hallmark trait, very high.
The entire process was coordinated by CMA Creative Management Association Srl, a consulting firm specializing in the sustainability of sports organizations. The Campaccio will measure its social, economic and environmental impacts according to international parameters recognized by the World Athletics Federation and involving 120 specific aspects that can be traced back to 6 macro-themes considered fundamental:
- Leadership for sustainability
- Sustainable production and consumption
- Climate change and carbon
- Local environment and air quality
- Global equality
- Diversity, accessibility and well-being
